In a recent post on my Huffington Post blog I wrote about why I chose to stay wide open to new experiences in my 50s ~ and to live outside my comfort zone as much as possible.
Here I’d like to share what others have to say on this subject.
I’m including here only quotes that I have personally found to be true in my own life:
9 GOOD REASONS FOR LIVING OUTSIDE YOUR COMFORT ZONE
1) We experience who we really are
“I have realized; it is during the times I am far outside my element that I experience myself the most. That I see and feel who I really am, the most!” ~C. JoyBell C.
2) We see a whole new world
“Coming out of your comfort zone is tough in the beginning, chaotic in the middle, and awesome in the end…because in the end, it shows you a whole new world !! Make an attempt..” ~Manoj Arora
3) We expand our potential
“In every season of life…we need to be committed to enlarging our personal capacity (even when it’s not comfortable). We need to refuse to be satisfied with our latest accomplishments, as what we’ve accomplished is no longer our potential because it has been realized.” ~Christine Caine
4) We feel the beauty of life
“Go away from your comfort zone to feel the beauty of life.” ~Debasish Mridha
5) We step into our greatness
“I know of no better or quicker way to step into my greatness than to step out of what’s familiar.” ~Vironika Tugaleva
6) We live a more enriched life
“And it’s always scary to do something that’s different and be taken out of your comfort zone but I think that the best thing that you can do is always figure out what makes you uncomfortable and then go ahead and just do it because a lot of times that’s when you live a more enriched life. You expose yourself to different perspectives and different experiences.” ~Ana Kasparian
7) Our vision of what is possible expands
“Even the smallest changes in our daily routine can create incredible ripple effects that expand our vision of what is possible.” ~Charles F. Glassman
8) We discover new strengths and abilities within ourselves
“We cannot expect to grow if we are too afraid or unwilling to change and face challenges. When we exit our everyday, mundane lifestyles to do something different we can experience growth, undiscovered strength, and new abilities within ourselves.” ~Ashley Ormon
9) We learn new skills
“…I felt it would push me out of my comfort zone and develop my skills. And that’s what it’s all about – do something new and learn something from it.” ~Marlene Mienie
